LETTER FROM THE CEO

The world’s great cities are filled with billions of people. Cities are full of ambition, culture, uncertainty, struggle, goodness and opportunity. Cities are complex.

Cities are also the places where we find more image of God per square mile than anywhere else in the world.

What if cities—inhabited by half the world’s population—were renewed by the gospel?

What if cities became places where people discover the gospel, apply their faith to their work, serve the poor and pursue justice and mercy? What if the world’s great cities became places where all people flourish?

As God moves people to cities, this great global migration provides an unprecedented opportunity for the gospel to renew humanity.

WE BELIEVE GOD IS CALLING US TO BE FOR THE CITY

  • To love the city
  • To preach to the city
  • To identify with and serve the city
  • To bless the city

CTC prayerfully recruits, trains, coaches and resources leaders who start new churches and church networks in cities around the world. All with the hope that we might join God in his work to renew cities with the gospel.

Our main role is to train and coach entrepreneurial pastors to start self-replicating, biblically-faithful churches that reach city dwellers.

This involves working directly with local leaders as well as networks, denominations and other agencies involved in church planting and leadership development. We believe leaders who apply the gospel to their lives and are trained to understand the culture and context of their city will be most adept at reaching their communities with the gospel.

We draw upon the experiences of Tim Keller and other seasoned church planters to share a curriculum that serves ministry leaders in cities on six continents.

OUR TRAINING EQUIPS:

  • Prospective church planters
  • Church planters
  • Church network leaders
  • Experienced pastors
  • Seminary students
  • Church leadership teams

There is no better way to strengthen the whole body of Christ, including existing churches, than by having a set of dynamic, church-planting movements across several denominations in global cities.

CTC trains leaders to start churches that seek to answer their communities’ questions with the gospel. Some core elements of these churches are persistent prayer and worship, loving fellowship, outward-facing evangelism and vigorous social justice.

RENEWAL IN THE CITY

  • CEO STEVE SHACKELFORD JOINED CTC IN FEBRUARY 2017
Having served as president of one of the largest business development companies, Steve came to CTC with extensive management, financial and organizational development expertise. His leadership is crucial in helping CTC take advantage of strategic growth opportunities.

  • CHAIRMAN & CO-FOUNDER TIM KELLER TRANSITIONED TO CTC
After retiring from his senior pastor role at Redeemer Presbyterian Church, Tim moved to CTC to be more engaged in fueling the global gospel movement. In his new role, Tim develops thought leadership content and teaches courses in the RTS and CTC joint seminary program.
  • THE CENTER FOR FAITH & WORK BEGAN ITS TRANSITION TO CTC
Started by Redeemer Presbyterian Church, the Center for Faith & Work (CFW) has spent the past 15 years primarily serving New Yorkers. This move to CTC provides the developed network and global footprint CFW needs to equip, connect and mobilize Christians around the world in faith and work integration. CFW will provide valuable tools and curriculum to the ministry leaders CTC serves.
