Why We Partner

By: Christian and Brooke Hempell

We have been involved with City to City for nearly ten years since meeting its former director, Terry Gyger, in Atlanta. We were drawn to the entrepreneurial nature of the model, and to how City to City trains and equips church planters who are called and gifted with vision, enthusiasm, creativity and preaching skills to bring the gospel to places of influence: cities.

The church planters we have met are all such talented entrepreneurs who would be great leaders in any context, but God has given them a passion to grow his church, and they have responded in faith. We love getting to know these incredible pastors and have been moved to support them in this work.

Over the past decade we have witnessed City to City's networks of church planters grow and gospel-centered churches start in cities where few once existed. We have not only seen church-planting networks flourish, but watched leaders become equipped to start more new churches across cities and regions.

Seeds planted years ago are now bearing great fruit, and the gospel is taking root in cities where many are coming to Christ for the first time. This is what keeps us passionate and encouraged about the work that City to City does — it's a model with a high success rate and it continues to grow.

Christian and Brooke Hempell have been City to City partners for almost 10 years. Christian serves as Board Vice Chairman and works as Senior Vice President of Global Loyalty and Partnerships at InterContinental Hotels Group, and Brooke works as Senior Vice President of Research at the Barna Group.
