New Cities Activated & Strategically-Located Training Centers

Middle East and North Africa
In 2017 CTC helped establish church planting projects in Istanbul, Beirut and Tel Aviv. These are the first CTC-supported projects in these cities, and each presents significant obstacles—very different than those faced in other parts of the world. CTC has helped Redeemer Church of Dubai develop a training center to prepare church planters and pastors to minister in Middle Eastern and North African cities and in other predominantly Muslim countries. The potential of this training hub is incredible as Dubai is not only a major transportation and vacation hub for the region, but also allows a freedom of religious expression unknown in much of the Islamic world.

Sub-Saharan Africa
Some of the greatest opportunities and challenges for church planting are in African cities. The continent is vast and full of metropolitan cities that are among the world’s largest and fastest growing, many of which will double in size in the next 20 years. CTC Africa is active in 14 of those cities, with networks forming in six of them. As momentum builds and its leaders increasingly collaborate, CTC Africa will create multiple training hubs—the first four in Accra, Durban, Nairobi and Pretoria/Johannesburg.

2017 Highlights

  • The continent’s first Train the Trainer was held in Pretoria with 25 leaders representing cities in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi and South Africa

  • 6 leaders from Beirut, Cape Town, Durban, Kampala, Nairobi and Soweto (Johannesburg) were trained at the International Intensive in NYC

  • 5 churches started in the UAE, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa

Prayer Points

  • For the infrastructure to plant more churches and for 3 additional regional catalysts who can work in West, East and Francophone Africa

  • In the Middle East, for church planters’ protection from political turmoil, violence and persecution

  • For the effectiveness and growth of CTC Africa’s four new training centers

“We left the South Africa Train the Trainer with a sense of confidence that we can together take the best learning from around the globe, contextualize it and use it to train scores of African planters—planters who, under God’s hand, will plant the kind of churches that can change the face of our great continent.” -

"There are people in Lebanon who will live their entire lives without ever hearing the gospel. We saw people hungering for God's Word, and that captured our hearts. We sensed the Lord calling us to plant a church in Lebanon. Before starting the planting process, we spent a couple years at Redeemer Church of Dubai where I was trained. We are now in Beirut and looking to launch in spring 2018!"
