We are more sinful and flawed than we ever dared believe. At the same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope. This is the gospel.
Individuals who understand this deeply experience renewal. Churches that understand this deeply can experience revival. Cities full of people and churches shaped by the gospel can experience a movement.
Gospel-shaped city vision recognizes the city’s potential to promote human flourishing and magnify human idolatry. For this reason, city ministry requires engaging the culture by proclaiming and embodying the gospel for a particular time and place and leveraging the resources of the church for the good of the city.
No one church, network, or denominations can reach an entire city—much less the world—with the gospel. Churches who love the city and are shaped by the gospel can partner to serve a gospel movement: a diverse, organic, and self-propagating force for gospel renewal that results in the peace and prosperity of our communities.
